INCB holds the third User Group meeting for the International Import Export Authorization System (I2ES)

VIENNA, 16 March 2018 - International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) President, Dr. Viroj Sumyai delivered opening remarks during the 3rd user group meeting on the International Import Export Authorization System (I2ES) for narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, held on 16 March 2018 during the 61st session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND).

More than 30 participants from over 30 countries joined in an open discussion on their experiences in using I2ES and ways to expand its use among States.

Dr. Sumyai stressed the importance of sharing the experiences of competent national authorities from different parts of the world in operating the system with other users and potential users as a way of promoting and facilitating wider participation in order to realize the full potential of the system.

 

I2ES is an online communication platform developed by INCB to support the monitoring of and to facilitate the licit trade in internationally scheduled substances. I2ES is available to all Governments at no cost.

At its 61st session, the Commission on Narcotic Drugs adopted resolution 61/5 calling on Member States to register and commence using I2ES as well as calling for further support towards the implementation, development and the provision of training for I2ES. The INCB President called on Governments to continue to provide support to enable the Board to promote and support I2ES implementation.
